COOKING up the Christmas dinner one minute, delivering a baby the next! Yesterday (Thursday) proud mum, Susan Flinter from Convoy was happily nursing her new born daughter, Kailee (7lb 2oz) at Letterkenny General Hospital after a bit of a drama on Christmas Day.
The affable Convoy mother was midway through preparing the Christmas dinner when she went into labour. “Thank God, we’re both healthy,” a relived Susan told the Donegal News. “It was a bit of a panic and shock at the time, but we can laugh about it now,” she added.
As she was not having any contractions Susan, had been let go from the hospital early on Christmas Day to spend the festivities with her husband, Aidan and daughter, Tia (22 months).
“We got home and we we’re getting the turkey in the kitchen ready and opening the presents Santa had brought for Tia when the contractions started. We dashed out of the house, dropped Tia off at her granny and grandad’s before travelling onto the hospital. Aidan wasted no time and we got to the hospital at 3.05 pm. Little Kailee was born 40 minutes later at 3.45pm.
“Thank god, we’re both well. The hospital staff were fabulous. It was a shock to the system, but we can look back at it now and laugh. We’ve now got a double celebration on Christmas Day,” Susan added.
