Eyebrows have been raised in Donegal after the MacLarnon Cup Final was fixed for the Dub (Queen’s University playing fields) in Belfast on Thursday evening.
St Eunan’s College will appear in the prestigious final for the first time since 2018.
Standing in their way will be Aquinas Grammar School, Belfast.
The match has been fixed for Thursday, February 5 at the Dub.
It is understood that there was a difficulty in sourcing a pitch for the final.
However, there was still a surprise in Donegal when the Belfast venue was announced as it is far from a neutral ground.
Aquinas Grammar School is only 4.5 kilometres away from the Dub. In contrast, St Eunan’s College players and supporters will have to make a 312 kilometres round trip to attend the big match.
Despite that, Peter Devine’s St Eunan’s College team will be keen to land the silverware.
