Superb St Eunan’s are county champions

St Eunan’s 1-11 Naomh Conaill 0-4

St Eunan’s are Donegal senior football champions for the first time in seven years after they produced an excellent performance against Naomh Conaill in MacCumhaill Park today.

The first half wasn’t the most exciting fare but St Eunan’s were the better team.

Eoin McGeehin rattled in a goal in the 24th minute after a good pass from Peter McEniff.

Niall O’Donnell and Leo McLoone swapped points late in the half and St Eunan’s were 1-3 to 0-3 ahead at the break.

The Letterkenny side continued to dominate after the resumption and Shaun Patton and Kieran Tobin scored points before Naomh Conaill were reduced to 14 men when Eunan Doherty picked up a second booking.

Rory Kavanagh’s St Eunan’s pushed on after that and scored four points on the trot.

Ciaran Thompson replied with a score for Naomh Conaill but they then had Charlie McGuinness sent off for an off-the-ball altercation with Sean McVeigh.

St Eunan’s closed the game out in style with scores from Shane and Niall O’Donnell and they were full value for their win.
