Sunny days ahead but no heatwave for Donegal says Met Éireann

A Met Éireann spokesperson has confirmed that Donegal, along with the rest of Ireland, will not be experiencing a heatwave in the coming days.

While some may have been hoping for scorching temperatures, the weather forecast paints a more moderate picture.

“In Met Éireann, a heatwave is defined as 5 consecutive days of 25 degrees or more and unfortunately no, Donegal (or any part of the country) will not be experiencing such temperatures,” the spokesperson explained.

However, the outlook for the week remains positive, with fine and settled weather set to take hold. Sunny spells are expected to dominate, and for the most part, the weather will stay dry.

In Donegal, daytime temperatures will rise to between 18 and 20 degrees, offering pleasant, mild conditions under the sun.

The clear skies, while welcome during the day, will also bring chilly nights.

Met Éireann warns that nighttime temperatures could drop to between 7 and 11 degrees for much of the country.

In the far west of Donegal, however, occasional cloud cover might prevent temperatures from dipping as low, with the possibility of nighttime temperatures remaining a degree or two higher than the national average.

So while a heatwave isn’t on the cards, we can still look forward to a period of dry and sunny weather with comfortable daytime temperatures.
