ST Mary’s, Convoy defender John Doherty says the suspension of GAA activities during the summer months showed how much his club and gaelic football meant to him and his teammates.
Convoy have been on a great run this year and will play in their first Junior Championship Final in 15 years on Sunday when they take on Downings.
“It would be fantastic for the club if we could win,” said Doherty who is renowned as a teak-tough defender.
“It’s a big day. It would have been great if both sets of supporters could have got in to see it but I don’t think the day will be lessened any because they aren’t there. It’s still a county final.
“I think the break during the summer showed us how much football and the club means to us.
“We love nothing more than going to training on a Tuesday and a Thursday night and having a match at the weekend.”
