THE funeral takes place this afternoon of a young East Donegal girl who died at the weekend after taking ill suddently last week.

Anna Baird (7) from the townland of Ardnaglass in Ballindrait took ill suddenly on Friday and sadly lost her life despite the best efforts made by emergency services and staff at Letterkenny General Hospital.

The daughter of Ian and Jill Baird and older sister to Matthew (4) was a pupil at Donoughmore National School in Liscooley.

Local minister, Reverend Colin McKibben said he had visited with the family over the weekend and said it was a very sad day for the parish. “We really feel for the Baird family and everyone’s thoughts are with them at this very sad time.”

Anna’s remains will be removed from the family home at Ballindrait at 1pm for funeral service at 2pm in Donoughmore Presbyterian Church, Liscooley.

The young students from Donoughmore National School in Liscooley will also be attending the funeral service to say goodbye to their friend Anna.
