The first session of Letterkenny Athletic Club’s Fit4Life Programme on Monday evening has been hailed as a great success by club chairman, Raymond Birch.
Over 40 people took part in the first workout at the Danny McDaid Track at the Aura Leisure Centre that’s being run in association with Donegal Sports Partnership.
“We weren’t sure what the response to this new initiative was going to be, so we were delighted to have 43 people on the track for the start of the Fit4Life programme,” the chairman said.
“Getting the Fit4Life programme up and running again at Letterkenny AC is something that I was passionate about and the turnout on the first evening just shows that there’s a real demand for it. We had people of all ages and all levels, and all seemed to enjoy it and were happy to get the first session behind them.
“The unique aspect of our Fit4Life programme is that there is a place and a pace for everyone who comes along. The walkers and runners are guaranteed a safe place to exercise in a fun and social environment. We had plenty of help from the team of coaches that have been assembled and thankfully the weather was dry and warm,” he added.
“Hopefully, those who took part on Monday evening will make the session a regular date in their diary. We have had contact from a number of people who weren’t able to make it Monday evening past, but who are keen to come along and participate this Monday which is fine. New participants are welcome to get involved at any time.”
The Letterkenny AC Fit4Life programme commences at 5.45 pm each Monday and will last around 50 minutes.
