A BUDDING entrepreneur with a deep desire to help others has launched a community care handbook in a bid to raise funds for Donegal Down Syndrome.
Arranmore’s Seán Boyle Sailor, a Fifth Year student from Gairmscoil Mhic Diarmada, began this ambitious project last year while he was in Transition Year.
The idea behind the project sprouted from Seán successfully completing his Bord Iascaigh Mhara training at the end of last year. This training will allow him to one day work on a boat/ferry.
Supported throughout this project by his business teacher, Ms Lisa Brennan, Seán also got the chance to work closely with all of the emergency services on the island including Arranmore RNLI.
‘Seán’s Guide to First Aid’, launched last week, contains vital information like how to call the emergency services, important contact numbers and how to respond to incidents using first aid.
Speaking to the Donegal News about the book, Ms Brennan said this project required incredible dedication, patience and a deep desire to help others.
“Seán’s decision to donate all proceeds from the book to Donegal Down Syndrome speaks volumes about his character.
“He has turned his knowledge into a tool for raising awareness and supporting a cause close to his heart.
“The launch of this book is a remarkable achievement, and it’s a testament to Seán’s unwavering commitment to doing well and helping others.
“Throughout his time here, Seán has demonstrated incredible determination, creativity and generosity.
“His willingness to try new things, adapt and constantly improve has been an inspiration to all of us.
“More than just a student, Seán has been a role model, showing us the power of kindness, hard work and resilience.
“I can confidently say that this is just the beginning of what Seán will achieve.
“I know he has even more exciting ideas and projects ahead, and I truly look forward to what comes next,” she said.
