“Our A-level students have again excelled, with the majority of our leavers gaining access to their chosen university courses. Today, marks a major step in their career pathway and I wish our students every success and happiness as they embark on the next phase of their education or career.  “As a school community we celebrate some outstanding individual successes at A-level. Remarkably 11 per-cent of students achieved all A*- A grades; this includes head girl, Orlagh Falconer who achieved A*A*A*, Fionntan Moore A*A*A, John Mehaffy, head boy, achieved A*AA, Jonathan Gamble A*AA and Ryan Millar A*AA. Fionntan, Jonathan and Ryan also achieved an A grade in their AS Further Maths exam.  “Also included were a number of high achievers; Kirsty Blair who achieved A*AB grades and Gavin Doherty, Jordan Mealiff and Jack Sayers who all achieved AAB grades.

“Overall, there was a 100 per-cent pass rate across all subjects areas with 72 per-cent of pupils achieving the benchmark three or more A*-C grades.  “Of all A-level examinations completed at Strabane Academy, 67 percent of results achieved were A*-B grades, this is a remarkable statistic,”  Mr Hampton continued.  “These are a fantastic set of results for the class of 2019, a group of students who have been a pleasure to have in our school right from Year Eight.    “As a staff, it has been a privilege to support and encourage each young person towards this success.  “In Strabane Academy, we are very proud of the rich diversity of our students and recognise that whilst not every pupil can achieve A* or A grades, our positive ethos ensures that every student is given the opportunity to achieve above what they or others may believe they are capable of.  “We value the achievements of all our students who have worked tirelessly over the last number of years and we are delighted to celebrate their success,” the principal added.
