Storm left 1,500 without power

MORE than 1,500 ESB customers in West Donegal were left without electricity for a time yesterday (Thursday) as winds of up to 160 kilometres an hour (100 mph) battered the county.
The worst affected areas were Bloody Foreland and The Rosses where falling trees brought down powerlines, leaving many homes without power.
A spokesman for the ESB and that their crews were working “flat out” and hoped to have power restored by yesterday evening when the winds abated.
Schools on Aranmore closed for the day and Pobalscoil Gaoth Dobhair also closed due to a power failure caused by the high winds.
