Storm Jocelyn slowing ESB restoration efforts

The ESB has warned that the arrival of Storm Jocelyn is slowing their restoration efforts for those who remain without power across the county.

At 5:15pm around 24,000 customers who lost electricity supply during Storm Isha remain without power, predominantly in the Northwest. In addition, 14,000 customers have lost supply following the high winds associated with Storm Jocelyn so far today.

“All available ESB Networks resources are deployed in counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, and Sligo. This includes crews and partner contractors who have travelled from less impacted areas of the country,” said a spokesperson this evening.

“Met Éireann status Orange and Yellow- level wind and rain warnings associated with Storm Jocelyn are hampering repair work this evening in areas already significantly impacted by Storm Isha. Crews are continuing to work into the evening where safe to do so.

“Many customers will remain without power tonight while some customers will be without power for a number of days.

“It is important that any impacted customers who use electrically powered medical devices contact their healthcare professional to make alternative arrangements if necessary.

“We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across the country, especially those who will be without power again overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power.”

A status orange wind warning for Donegal remains in place until 2am on Wednesday morning.

In recent days approximately 221,000 homes, farms and businesses across the country have had their power restored following storm force winds associated with Storm Isha.

Real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly and is available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie.
