Storm Gerrit to bring heavy rain and strong winds

A yellow warning for heavy rain and strong winds has been issued for Donegal as Storm Gerrit is set to hit the country later this evening.

Met Éireann said that heavy rain tonight, followed by more heavy showers tomorrow may lead to localised flooding.

There will be strong southerly storm winds overnight, which will veer southwesterly tomorrow. These, in conjunction with spring tides, could result in coastal flooding.

The warning will be in effect from 8pm tonight until midnight on Thursday.
