Storm Darragh update: Number of power outages grows across Donegal

ESB crews are working throughout the day in an attempt to restore power to the homes and businesses impacted by power cuts across Donegal.

A number of new outages have been reported since this morning and ESB personnel have been out since early morning working to repair faults.

Customers right around the county are without power and the issue has meant many shops and businesses have decided not to open today.

In many cases the outages won’t be repaired until well into this evening.

It comes as the North West was battered by heavy winds and rain overnight when Storm Darragh reached the mainland.

A Status Orange wind warning for the entire country expired at 10am and was replaced with a Status Yellow wind warning. This will stay in place until 3pm.

A Status Yellow rain warning for Connacht as well as counties Clare, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Louth, Meath and Westmeath expired at 10am.

Nationally around 325,000 remain without power this afternoon.
