Storm Atiyah to hit Donegal on Sunday

MET Eireann has issued an orange weather warning for Donegal on Sunday when Storm Atiyah will hit the west coast.

Storm Atiyah will track between Iceland and Ireland on Sunday generating a swathe of very strong winds across the country. Orange warnings will be in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Kerry and Limerick while a yellow warning will be in place for the rest of the country.

A Met Eireann Spokesperson said: “Southwesterly winds later veering northwesterly will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with gusts from 110 to 130km/h. Due to a combination of high seas and storm surge there is a possibility of coastal flooding.”
