Status orange wind warning issued

MET Éireann has issued a status orange wind warning for Donegal which may bring gusts of up to 130km/hr over the next two days.

Storm Gareth is set to bring very high winds and there will also be a risk of coastal flooding. The weather warning will be in place from 12pm tomorrow until Wednesday at 9am.

A Met Éireann spokesperson said: “As storm Gareth approaches, westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 75km/h with damaging gusts reaching 110 to 130km/h. There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.”

The orange warning will be in place for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo while the rest of the country will have a yellow warning in place.
