DEDICATED staff, students and parents from St Bernadette’s School in Letterkenny will be ditching the razors this November following the announcement of their latest fundraiser.
The Movember campaign at St Bernadette’s School is not just about growing moustaches, though that’s part of the fun!
It’s about drawing attention to the importance of mental health and wellbeing for both pupils and staff, while raising money to support the school’s vital services.
The funds raised through Movember will directly support the school’s ongoing operational costs, particularly the maintenance and running of their four school buses.
These buses are crucial to the school’s ability to get pupils out and about for activities such as walking trips and attending various events throughout the year.
In addition to supporting transportation, the Movember funds will also contribute to the school’s continued efforts to upgrade their sensory rooms, classrooms and the purchase of essential educational equipment.
These upgrades are part of the school’s ongoing commitment to providing an environment where all students feel safe, supported and able to thrive.
The Movember campaign has brought together a dedicated team of participants, including nine members of staff, five senior students and a handful of supportive parents.
Together, they are working hard to raise awareness about mental health, while encouraging the school community to engage with this important cause.
However, the Movember campaign is just one part of a larger wellbeing push at St Bernadette’s.
The school will also host a couple of key events throughout the month to further engage the community and spread awareness about mental health.
One such event is a talk by Bill Vaughan, a respected mental health advocate.
For the ladies in the school, a special one-hour webinar will focus on menopause and mental health, helping to break the stigma around this important topic and provide support for those who may be affected.
If you’d like to support the Movember campaign at St. Bernadette’s, keep an eye on the school’s Facebook page for details on how to donate.
