Packie Kennedy and Ciarán Greene of St Eunan’s lift the Philadelphia Senior Championship Cup at the weekend.

LAST weekend two Gaelic players from Letterkenny helped St Pat’s Donegal to lifts its divisional senior championship in Philadelphia.
St Eunan’s clubmen Ciarán Greene and Packie Kennedy and their team-mates at St Pat’s beat local rivals Tyrone in the Philadelphia final, 2-12 to 1-9.
Both Greene and Kennedy, who lined out at centre half back and corner back, gave top performances with Greene earning himself the Man Of The Match award scoring two points while Kennedy kept Cavan county player Martin O’Reilly scoreless from play.
Both St Eunan’s men have played every second of all six championship games in Philadelphia this summer to help their side claim the Philadelphia Senior Championship title.
Ciarán said: “It was great for everyone involved with us to get the victory in the final. We have been treated like royalty since we arrived so it was nice to repay the management in the manner in which we did.”
The boys will now wait and see whether they will face familiar faces in the next round of the North American Championships currently underway.
Greene and Kennedy will play the winners of Sunday week’s Boston Senior Championship final which sees Donegal Boston GFC, featuring Kevin Cassidy (Gaoth Dobhair) and Westmeath star Dessie Dolan, face the Shannon Blues Boston GFC.
Ciarán said: “We’re looking forward to hearing the result of the Boston final as it will be nice to play against sone familiar faces such as old college house mates and the likes of former county star Kevin Cassidy.”
Philadelphia will be hosting this year’s North American County Championships on Labor Day Weekend, Friday, August 31 to Sunday, September 2 as Gaels from all over North America converge on the City of Brotherly Love stretching from Toronto to Texas, Vancouver to Virginia, Denver to D.C., San Francisco to Seattle, and Boston to the Big Apple.
