ST EUNAN’S…………2.13
BURT……………………2-8
St Eunan’s came out on top after a good first half spell to beat Burt to the Junior Championship title.
Eunan’s dominated in the opening half while Burt missed some poor wides, but 43-year-old Eugene Organ rolled back the years in this clash.
He hit two early points as did Paul O’Donell, with Gavin Forde getting the other as they were 0-5 to 0-1 ahead after 20 minutes, Niall Campbell scoring for Burt.
Organ was also involved as Eunan’s got the ball in the net, barely, and the veteran forward will claim the goal, while Campbell and Mickey McCann pointed the only other Burt scores as they went in 1-5 to 0-3 down.
The second half was much more exciting with McCann and Campbell pointing twice more but Gavin Forde had a great second half, hitting four more while Organ and Scanlon added to the Eunan’s score.
Organ’s second goal came with a brilliant catch turn and shot and McCann quickly replied to raise the green flag but Eunan’s were 2-11 to 1-6 up at this point.
Two more Forde scores sealed the deal as they would be crowned champions but Burt got another goal through Leo Doherty and a point from Callum Porter.
