St Eunan’s overcome Scoil Mhuire in Ulster final

St Eunan’s College 2 Scoil Mhuire Buncrana 0

St Eunan’s College dethroned Scoil Mhuire Buncrana to take the Dr Tony O’Neill Ulster Cup final as set pieces made the difference at the Letterkenny Community Centre on Friday.

Ronan Buchanan’s low free kick from the corner of the box went under the Buncrana wall and into the near corner to give them the lead.

The Letterkenny men doubled their lead before the break as Fintan Hasson’s free kick went over Buncrana ‘keeper Jamie McCauley and as Daire McColgan tried to head clear on the line, he could only direct it into his own net.

Buncrana tried to hit back and Shaunie Bradley’s introduction at half-time gave them a threat but Andrew Nicholls had a great game to ensure his side kept a clean sheet and took the provincial title.

St Eunan’s will now play the winners of the Leinster final between Salesian College or Blackrock College, which takes place on Monday, with the semi-final pencilled in for February 27.
