The Sentry Hill school controlled the opening quarter of the contest but only managed to land one score, with Callum McGilloway converting an eighth minute free.

The Belfast outfit kicked on in the second half of Act One, with Conn Huston (two-pointer), Conall Vaugh, Padhraig McQuaid and JJ Higgins all finding the target.

As the clocked entered red at the end of the first stanza, Aquinas landed a major courtesy of a well-taken goal from JJ Higgins to leave them seven up at the break.

The Belfast outfit stretched their lead to eight points early on in Act Two before Peter Devine’s men kicked back-to-back scores through Shea Boyle and Callum McGilloway to cut the deficit to six.

However, a further three white flags accompanied with a goal from Jack Watson saw Aquinas’ advantage increase to 12 entering the final quarter.

The Letterkenny school continued to battle until the end but it wasn’t to be for them on the day, with Aquinas Grammar School sealing their first MacLarnon Cup title.
