GAA U14 CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS

ST EUNAN’S and Naomh Conaill will contest this year’s U14 A Championship final after overcoming Ardara and MacCumhaills respectively on Wednesday night.
The young men from the Cathedral Town stunned Ardara with a late-late comeback in Convoy to force their semi final into extra time before eventually running out ten point winners (5-12 to 2-11) while Naomh Conaill had five points to spare at the end of their sixty minutes with MacCumhaills (6-05 to 2-12) in Glenfin.
As Ardara let their guard down in those closing minutes, St Eunan’s substitute Niall Hannigan was perfectly placed to pick their pocket and cashed in with an injury time penalty followed by an equalising point.
There would be no last opportunity for Ardara to reduce that horrible sequence of nine unanswered points and the game moved into extra time.
Brian McGeehin’s team would out score Ardara by ten points in the twenty minutes which followed to set up a rematch of last year’s U13 final against Naomh Conaill – a game the men from the Cathedral Town won.
Meanwhile, in Glenfin, Naomh Conaill having gone in at the break trailing by a point, blasted home two goals in as many minutes through R6yan Hunter who was then upended a minute later for a penalty that Jack Flannery dispatched to the net, swinging the game in favour of the young lads from Glenties.
Ryan Hunter (3-2), Jack McKelvey (1-0), Jack Flannery (2-2) and Keelin McMonagle (0-1) were on target for Naomh Conaill while Ryan Finn (2-2) was MacCumhaills top marksman.
