THERE is a very welcome weekend of live music at The Balor, Ballybofey, this weekend with two great gigs to look forward to.
Bruce Springsteen tribute band The Human Touch play on Friday while two time Meteor Award winner John Spillane makes his first visit to The Balor on Saturday.
The Human Touch – asix-piece band comprised of top Irish session musicians and fronted by veteran American singer and guitarist Monte Thompson – lay claim to the title of Ireland’s number one Bruce Springsteen tribute act.
They’ve toured Ireland and the UK extensively since 2011, playing to countless packed houses and gaining widespread critical acclaim,earning a reputationfor authenticity and outstanding musicality.
Delivering all the hits, anthems and favourites, The Human Touch is a high energy show and a must see spectacle for all fans of The Boss.
The Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey, which will be alive to the sound of great music on both Friday and Saturday this week.
Saturday night sees the Balor debut of the remarkable John Spillane -musician, songwriter, performer, recording artist, storyteller, poet and dreamer.
A two-time Meteor Award winner for best folk/trad act, John is one of the most accomplished songwriters in Ireland. His songs have been covered by Christy Moore, Sharon Shannon, Sean Keane and many others.
As an artist his music appeals to listeners across genres and generations while his live performances captivate audiences around the world.
With a distinctive almost sean-nos quality to his vocal style his performances flit effortlessly between beautiful poetry tinged with melancholy to roguish, irreverent humour which charms, mesmerises and entertains in equal measure.
The Human Touch play The Balor, Ballybofey this Friday, February 18,at 8pm, admission €20.
