Donegal’s digital and creative businesses will step into the spotlight at the start of October for a series of events, meetings and a digital master class, all organised by the Local Enterprise Office through its Creative Coast programme.
The creative and digital gatherings will kick off at 7pm on Tuesday October 3 in Buncrana’s Inishowen Gateway Hotel, when Inishowen-based photographer Jay Doherty will talk about the perseverance and determination needed to succeed in business.
Jay will be joined on the night by creative industries expert David Parrish, who over the coming months will be working with Local Enterprise Office, Donegal, on a new pilot programme called ‘Generate.’
“The search is ongoing for businesses for this new pilot business development programme and we’d urge interested businesses to come along. Those selected for ‘Generate’ will receive ongoing support from David and the project will focus on digital businesses with the potential to grow and create jobs. He will offer one to one business advice sessions, drawing on his work in the creative industries worldwide,” said Michael Tunney, Head of Enterprise in Donegal.
The following day, Wednesday October 4, David Parrish will conduct an interactive Digital Masterclass in the Local Enterprise Office in Letterkenny.
“The workshop on business growth strategies is designed for digital businesses and will use examples from successful digital businesses around the world to illustrate different growth strategies and creative business models, suitable for growing digital enterprises,” David explained.
He suggested that by the end of the half-day workshop, participants will have considered a range of strategies that could be adopted and adapted to suit their own businesses, to help them to grow.
Meanwhile on Thursday October 5, the latest creative cluster meeting for Fashion and Textiles will take place in Letterkenny IT at 7pm. That meeting – aimed at anyone in the county with an interest in the business of fashion and textiles – will also be attended by David Parrish.
“Through our engagement with the creative sectors we are keen to develop the conditions required for creative entrepreneurs to succeed. The meetings and events in October are part of that ongoing process and hopefully creative and digital businesses in Donegal will be eager to get involved.”
