MORE than €1.5 million in revenue has been generated from fixed charged notices issued for speeding offences in Donegal since 2019, we can reveal.
Figures obtained by the Donegal News through the Freedom of Information Act show €1,528,800 in revenue has been generated from fixed charge notices for non-intercept speeding offences in Donegal Division.
The revenue relates to a total of 15,150 fixed charge notices issued.
The figures are based on incidents which occurred from January 1, 2019 to May 13, 2025, inclusive.
In the first five months of this year to May 13, a total of 2,698 fixed charge notices – the largest number in the six-year period – were issued, generating revenue of €281, 200.
Last year saw the largest generated revenue from speeding fines (€356,640), while the smallest revenue generated was in 2019 (€97,240).
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said the figures come with a caveat.
“All information contained in this report is based upon operational data from the FCPS system as was available on May 14, 2025, and is liable to change.”
