Gardaí were conducting a speed check operation on the Port Road on Thursday, June 19 last when they observed a driver travelling at 137kph in a 60kph speed limit zone.
Letterkenny District Court was told that when gardaí stopped the car and spoke to its driver, Ryan Ridge, 22, 1 Rathcavan Drive, Ballymena, Co. Antrim, that he was fully apologetic.
Judge Cunningham told Ridge that the speed in which he was driving was “not acceptable”. She directed he undertake the Pro-Social Drivers Programme by November 24, 2025, ordering him to pay the €250 contribution to do so.
Noting that Ridge resides in the North, Judge Cunningham directed that he undertake a driving programme of a similar nature in that jurisdiction.
