‘Speed can and does kill’- National Slow Down day comes to a close 

GARDAÍ in Donegal conducted a National Slow Down day yesterday to remind motorists of the dangers of speeding.

Speed checks were conducted in various locations around the county to deter those that are intent on driving at excessive or inappropriate speed.

The Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a number of motorists speeding yesterday, with one travelling 141kph in a 100 kph zone.

A garda spokesperson said: “A number of motorists have been detected travelling in excess of 100kph speed limit and fixed charge penalty notices will be issued.

“We are trying to make the roads safer for everyone.

“Please play your part and slow down.

“Speed can and does kill.”
