Scoil Bhríde Convoy ran a very special competition, tasking their pupils to design a new mural for their school hall under the theme ‘wellbeing’.
“It was not my wall, it was the children’s wall,” said the Principal Grainne Reid.
Talented local artist Marty McDaid, a past pupil of Scoil Bhríde, helped to select the winning design.
Over the Halloween holidays Marty got to work and painted the design as a mural on the hall wall.
The pupil’s submissions were submitted anonymously, so even their teachers had no idea who designed the winning mural.
On Monday morning when the children returned to school they were eager to see which design had been selected.
The school gathered in the hall and asked the pupil who designed the mural to come forward, sixth class pupil Amy Doonan put her hand up.
Amy got a big surprise and was absolutely delighted said Principal Reid.
