IT’S been a special week for Kevin Muldoon and he’s enjoyed the experience of representing the Donegal senior footballers.
Muldoon impressed off the bench against Antrim and Derry.
He did enough to be trusted with a starting jersey on Saturday and posted a point in a good display.
Young fans flocked to the Four Masters star after the match as they hunted for selfies and autographs and that’s something he might have to get used to.
“It’s been brilliant,” Muldoon told the Donegal News.
“It’s a great experience to be up with the senior team and to have Jim give us the shot.
“I think Jim’s just trying to get minutes into the legs of everyone and each player is just trying their hardest to push everyone and make the team better.”
Muldoon didn’t play minor football for Donegal as he was concentrating on soccer.
He did line out for the Donegal under 20s and was one of their main men last year.
The first year DCU student is now togging out alongside All Stars like Michael Langan, Brendan McCole, and Peadar Mogan but he looks comfortable at this level and showed well against Monaghan.
“It was a big step.
“Monaghan gave us a good game.
“The first half was wild tight.
“The second half was a bit hectic but I think we held our own and battled on through and knocked over the scores to win the game.
Muldoon hopes his performances in January can keep his name in the mix for the National Football League and perhaps the championship in the summer.
“That’s always the dream and that’s what every boy wants.
“All you can do is try your hardest and that’s the best you can do.”
Donegal’s next match is against Dublin in Croke Park.
With searing pace, Muldoon should be at home at Headquarters if he makes the panel for the league opener.
“I haven’t played there. It would be a big one if it happens.”
Muldoon is one of a quartet of players from Four Masters on the panel currently along with Conor McCahill and the Carr brothers, Turlough and Seanan.
“It’s great for Four Masters.
“There’s no competition. We’re all just happy for another.
“It’s great craic and great company for us all.”
