A NUMBER of fundraising events are taking place throughout the county this month to celebrate 200 years of the RNLI Lifeboats.
Kicking things off this Saturday, August 10, Michael Alcorn and Seamus Martin, who were rescued by Lough Swilly Lifeboat crew a few weeks ago, are hosting an all-day fundraising event in Portsalon.
The fun starts with a ‘Walk and Swim’ on Portsalon Beach. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the car park 10.30am.
Later, at 12noon, Taylor Swift themed music and activities will take place on the beach, which promises to be huge fun for all ages.
The evening will conclude with a pub quiz in the Lighthouse Tavern at 8pm with live music to follow.
This is just one of many events taking place this month.
Gartan Open Water Swimmers are continuing their weekly Wednesday night Crab Crawls in Portnablagh at 7pm throughout August (weather permitting) also in aid of the RNLI and Sheephaven Sub Aqua Search and Rescue service.
These are 1 kilometre, predict your time events with registration from 6.15pm on the pier.

Meanwhile, the RNLI have expressed their gratitude to everyone in Dunfanaghy following their annual bucket collection.
“Huge thanks to everyone in Dunfanaghy last Friday for their generosity with a magnificent sum of €1,750 collected over Friday and Saturday,” a spokesperson from the RNLI said.
