THE Irish Architecture Foundation’s wonderful new exhibition A Space For Learning has just opened at Letterkenny’s Regional Cultural Centre.
It is a really innovative show full of creative ideas developed by architects and secondary school students that will be of interest to people of all ages.
The Regional Cultural Centre’s main gallery is one of the finest in Ireland and shows off this exhibition to great effect.
There are a number of free events to accompany the exhibition including a Panel Discussion on Wednesday, February 22 at 7.30pm featuring exhibition curator Rachel McAree and one of the participating architects Robert Bourke. No booking required for this event.

This groundbreaking exhibition showcases the winning ten designs from an ideas competition that challenged current thinking on school design.
120 architects worked with 1500 students in 90 schools across Ireland in the developmental phase of this project as architects collaborated directly with Transition Year students on the design of educational spaces.
Ten winning architect-student teams from counties Cavan, Limerick, Louth, Cork and Dublin created films, installations, models and drawings to illustrate their ideas about learning spaces and environments.
Thousands of visitors have seen and enjoyed the exhibition as it toured Dublin, Carlow, Belfast and Cork. Now people from Donegal and the Northwest will have a chance to see the work firsthand in Letterkenny.
Rachel McAree, Education Curator for the IAF said: “It was inspirational to see the students and architects working together on their projects about school design. The exhibits are amazing, full of creative ideas and innovation.”
Admission to the exhibition is free of charge and everyone is welcome. It is open Tuesday to Friday 11 am to 5 pm and Saturdays 1 pm to 5 pm until March 16.
