SOUTHWEST Donegal have no fears of an away knock-out match as they head to Breffni Park today (Thursday) to take on St Pat’s, Cavan in the MacRory Cup play-offs.
The team managed by Shay Murrin, Gary Boyle, Enda Walsh, and Niall Friel, made a great start to their campaign with wins over Holy Trinity, Cookstown, and Our Lady’s, Castleblayney.
However, they finished their group with narrow one-point defeats against St Colman’s, Newry, and St Pat’s, Armagh.
That final match with Armagh does come with an asterisk, as they had a handy free at the end of the match which would have gifted them a draw.
However, with the top two teams securing home advantage in the last 16, they went for glory, but missed out and had to settle for third spot.
“We were only a kick of the ball away from topping the group,” Murrin told the Donegal News.
