THE 42-year-old son of the retired Carndonagh couple found murdered at their home is due to due to appear in court in Letterkenny this morning.
Julian Cuddihy, Churchtown, Carndonagh, is accused of the murders of his father Jimmy Cuddihy (77) and his mother Kathleen Cuddihy (73).
The retired maths teacher and his ex-nurse-paramedic wife were found dead at their home in Churchtown last Thursday morning.
Julian Cuddihy is again expected to be further remanded in custody today.
Over one thousand people turned out for their funeral mass which was held yesterday.
Parish Priest, Fr Con McLaughlin told mourners the community in Carndonagh been ‘traumatised’ by the double murder of a popular husband and wife, the couple’s parish priest has said.
Fr McLaughlin said people “could not get their heads around what happened”. The priest, who knew both victims personally, said a
“silence” had fallen over the village since the attack.
Businesses closed and locals lined the streets of Carndonagh to pay their respects as two hearses passed through the town yesterday.
The retired couple were taken on the final journey from their home to the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Carndonagh and a terrible silence had descended on the town.
Speaking at the funeral yesterday, their daughter Maureen appealed to all families who have relatives with mental health issues to look for help from the appropriate services.
