RUNNING from July 7 to 29, the 30th Earagail Arts Festival programme presents premieres of new theatrical works, spell-binding aerial dance and circus and a wealth of global music from around the world.
Alongside a rich international visual arts programme, the festival’s 30th programme will also feature plenty for the whole family. Enjoy the circus and carnival atmosphere on the Village Green in Malin during the Wild Atlantic Weekend – Saturday July 21 and Sunday July 22nd – which celebrates the 250th anniversary of circus in true Irish carnival style.
Key highlights of the weekend include the legendary Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists, Lords of Strut as well as the equally legendary, Tumblecircus, Fanzini Productions, Lulu’s World, Little John Nee and The Tea Dance Triode, alongside YouTube sensation John D Ruddy’s pocket History of Ireland. Lords of Strut – Absolute Legends
In this dance fantasy adventure brothers Sean and Seamus rock out some banging moves, run into trouble, have a few tantrums, cause a teensy bit of mayhem and find out if fame is really what they’re looking for after all. Street Performance World Champions, unlikely heroes of smash hit RIOT and Britain’s Got Talent favourites, Lords of Strut deliver their most ridiculous and sublime family show to date. Rip-roaringly funny, fantastically bizarre, and absolute legends.
Lords of Strut Absolute Legends is a Lords of Strut / thisispopbaby co-production, presented with the support of the Arts Council of Ireland, Cork County Council, Pavilion Theatre, Greywood Arts, the Ark and Exchange House.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
As part of this year’s Earagail Arts Festival, take a trip down the rabbit hole with Chapterhouse Theatre Company as they present the classic tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in Rathmullan House. Join Alice as she stumbles into the magical world of Wonderland and meet a whole host of colourful characters. From the unforgettable White Rabbit and the madcap Mad Hatter to the terrifying Queen of Hearts, Alice’s journey couldn’t be filled with more adventure.
Presented in beautiful Victorian costume and alive with song, dance and original music, this is a production to delight the entire family. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland takes place on Friday, July 13 at 3pm. Tickets cost €10/€17 with group discounts available. Visit eaf.ie to book.
The Selkie
Another family highlight of this year’s Earagail Arts Festival is The Selkie; a much-loved and native Donegal mermaid tale sure to enchant the whole family. Legend has it if you hide a seal skin belonging to a Selkie she must stay with you forever, however if she finds it she will always return to the sea. On a moonlight beach in Donegal a Fisherman finds a beautiful Selkie maiden dancing over the rocks, so begins a magical tale using storytelling, puppets, live theatre, music and voice.
This inventive, brand new bi-lingual production has been commissioned by Earagail Arts Festival and is a collaboration between Banyan Theatre Company, the Inishowen Gospel Choir, An Grianán Youth Theatre and Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair Youth Theatre.
The Selkie takes place at 3pm on Thursday July 26 in An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny and on Friday July 27 in Gaoth Dobhair, Amharclann. The shows lasts 45 minutes and is suitable for children aged 5+. Admission is €7 or 5 tickets for €25. To book visit eaf.ie.
Ballet Poulet
As part of Wild Atlantic Weekend on Saturday July 21 and Sunday July 22, Fanzini presents Ballet Poulet. Two world class Olympian-level idiots bring to you their latest masterpiece. She has prepared a poetic, delicate and tender ballet. He has prepared a bad ass display of mayhem. She loves dancing, he loves chickens.
