MET ÉIREANN has issued a weather warning for snow and ice in Donegal which is set to come into effect this morning at 5am.
As rain, sleet and snow moves upwards from the South, it is expected that sleet and snow will lead to accumulations, significantly on higher ground.
Speaking to the Donegal News, a spokesperson from Met Éireann confirmed the main “hazardous” day of “wintry” weather will be today.
“It will be very windy as well and cold,” they concluded.
Possible impacts of this weather will be hazardous travelling conditions, poor visibility and ice on untreated surfaces.
The yellow weather warning is set to remain in place until 8pm tonight.
Moving into Friday, unsettled weather conditions are expected with further spells of rain and sleet.
Staying cold and unsettled into the weekend, further spells of rain are expected on Saturday.
On Sunday, weather conditions are expected to brighten up as we see some sunny spells spread across Donegal.
However, further showers are expected into the evening with some of them possibly falling as sleet.
