A garda spokesperson said: “Our work in relation to safety on the roads will of course continue beyond this operation. Sadly, some drivers continue to make irresponsible decisions on our roads such as speeding and driving while under the influence.

“We continue to urge drivers never to drive while under the influence of alcoholdrugs. Please wear your seatbelt, do not holduse a mobile phone while driving and slow down.”
