DONEGAL Sinn Féin TD, Pádraig Mac Lochlainn, has confirmed that Sinn Féin president, Gerry Adams will visit Letterkenny General Hospital this morning, August 1, at 11.30 am to meet with hospital management and staff on the crisis there resulting from the recent flooding.

Speaking ahead of the visit, Deputy Mac Lochlainn said: “Last Monday, my colleague, Cllr Gerry McMonagle and I met with hospital manager, Sean Murphy and his team to hear at first-hand about the scale of the crisis and the challenges ahead.

“The hospital management and staff have -responded heroically but they need every support possible in the time ahead to get through this.

“Questions about what led to the flooding need to be answered in due course but for now, we need to ensure that the cost of this unprecedented hospital crisis is not borne by the management and staff of the hospital.

“They were already struggling with a reduced hospital budget and not one cent of the additional cost resulting from this flooding should be applied to that budget.”

“We are delighted in Donegal Sinn Féin that the leader of our party, Gerry Adams, will visit the hospital tomorrow and pledge our party’s full support and gratitude to the team.”
