Sinead within touching distance of Glór Tíre trophy

SINGER Sinead Black says she intends to enjoy the experience after making it through to the final of Glór Tíre.

The Letterkenny woman was put through to the last leg of TG4’s popular country music competition on Tuesday night. She will return to the stage this coming Tuesday in the hope of clinching the top prize of €5,000.

It has been a long journey for Sinead following the show’s postponement in March. But she showed no sign of nerves as she stepped back into the spotlight.

“It was a lonely studio compared to before,” the singer said yesterday.

“It wasn’t as bad as I imagined it might be but what did stand out was how stringent the Covid restrictions were. It made you very wary but it also made you realise you were safe.”

Sinead’s future in the competition depends now on a public voting system. People can log on using the Glór Tíre app and help her edge closer to the coveted title.

Rather than let the tension get to her, the Donegal songstress plans to take things as they come as the big day approaches.

“It would be lovely to win it but the standard among the finalists is very high. Each contestant brings something unique to the competition.

“The voting lines are open and we only have five days so I’ll be trying to get as many people as I can voting. Stevens Jewellers have been with me since day one and Kay C Designs have designed my dress so I’m just looking forward to getting dressed up, soaking up the atmosphere and doing my best.”
