Sightings of grey hatchback car sought following safety buoy theft

GARDAÍ are appealing for information on sightings of a grey hatchback car with three males onboard, believed to have been in the area of Mountcharles Pier when a safety buoy was removed.

An orange ‘safety buoy’ with ‘500m’ printed on it along with its weights and chain were removed from the water along the shoreline at Mountcharles Pier on Tuesday, January 6 at 2pm.

A garda spokesperson said: “A number of these type of marker buoys had been placed in the water by the local swimming club to improve safety for everyone. These buoys are vital safety aids for swimmers and so we are anxious to progress the investigation. If anyone has relevant information they are asked to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on (071) 9858530.

If anyone travelled in that area with a dash-cam between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on that date, we ask them to make the footage available to us. The Garda Confidential Line may be reached on 1800 666 111.”
