A SHORT film showcasing the beauty and unspoilt wildness of the Donegal island of Glashedy has become an internet hit.
‘Glashedy – I Am Your Rock’ was written by Danny O’Donnell and directed by Michael McLaughlin with the music provided by the group Bodhran Abu.
Given the breathtaking scenery captured by the team, it is not difficult to see why thousands of people flocked to Ballyliffin’s shores last week.

Glashedy – I am your rock.
I have counted every wave and swell that has coursed and danced about me.
I feel every crash and swirl of gravel between my toes and every tide rise with its cool, driving flows.
I stand resolute, stubborn, and unyielding. Dark and forbidding, never weak and pale.
I watch and listen, and if I could talk or move, I could tell many a tale.
I see lovers stroll hand in hand along the curving Pollan strand and explore themselves among the heaving bosoms of grassy knolls and mounded golden sand.
I see family’s grow day by day, year on year, playing on the stone speckled shore and freckled, spiky land.
I hear the seagull’s call, above the white, dimpled spheres, that trip and skip merrily along lush, green boulevards, and sometimes play peek-a-boo among the greying, sun-bleached rough.
I will listen soon for expectant pauses and loud, thunderous applauses.
If I could move, I would be among the swaying, moving throng.
But I am always here.
I am unmoved.
I am Granite.
I am Glashedy.
I am your rock.
