Speaking to the Donegal News, shop owner, Mr Niall Callaghan, said he was relieved the young shop assistant was not harmed.

“My main concern was for the shop assistant. Fortunately, he was not injured but he was badly shocked,” he said.

Mr Callaghan, has this week appealed for information following the robbery.

“The incident happened around 9.15pm. The man entered the shop armed with a steak-knife and wearing a balaclava, gloves and dark clothing. He reached for the shop assistant and pushed him towards the till. He ordered him to empty the till takings into a bag,” he said.
