Shock after dog owner asks vet to remove dogs teeth

A DOG in Donegal has been surrendered to a rescue centre after its owner requested a vet to remove his teeth after he started biting a car tyre.

The dog is now in the care of Animals in Need in Donegal Town and the charity is on the lookout for a forever home for the dog.

Staff at the charity, which rescues hundreds of stray, injured and abandoned pets, were left dumbfounded after they heard about the outrageous request.

The charity highlighted the issue on a post on social media.

A spokesperson for the animal charity said, “We hear many heartbreaking reasons why people have to give up their pets – Divorce, death in the family, loss of jobs etc. but some of the excuses and reasons we hear are beyond reason.

“Recently a woman rang.

“She had to rehome her dog as he had started to bite car tyres.

“Her way of ‘fixing’ this was to ring the vets to get an appointment for them to remove his teeth.

“Much to her annoyance – the vet refused,” said the spokesperson.
