Shandon Hotel fetches €810,000 at auction

THE landmark Shandon Hotel near Dunfanaghy has been sold. The property fetched €810,000 at auction in Dublin on Wednesday afternoon.

It had a guide price of €670,000 and after bidding a sale was agreed, subject to approvals.

While the identity of the new owners has not been released there is speculation they may be from the locality. The hotel was worth well over €6million before it got into financial difficulties.

Four years ago a bank receiver was first appointed to the well known well known 71-bedroom Shandon Hotel & Ocean Spa at picturesque Marble Hill.

In Rathmullan ten two-bedroom apartments at Pound Street were sold that had a guide price of €150,000 were sold for €325,000. This equates to around €30,000 per apartments. The owners have not been identified.

The property extends to 6,157sq ft in total and is on a corner site with off street parking to the rear.
