Met Éireann has issued a Severe Weather Warning for low temperatures in Donegal for Thursday evening and into Friday morning.
The Orange weather warning comes into effect from 7pm this evening (Thursday) and is valid to 8am on Friday.
Met Éireann say it will be extremely cold with widespread severe frost and ice, along with lying snow in some areas.
We should also expect patches of freezing fog.
The forecaster is warning of dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and poor visibility.
The warning comes after days of freezing conditions across the county.
The cold snap has resulted in the closure of a number of schools around Donegal this week while a host of community events and sporting fixtures have also been cancelled.
However, hopes of an upturn in temperatures will have to be put on hold for another day at least.
The areas affected by this latest weather warning are: Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, Tipperary
