Severe low temperature warning issued

MET Éireann has issued a severe low temperature warning for Donegal as temperatures are expected to drop as low as minus five.

The orange warning for low temperatures and ice comes into effect from 5pm on Sunday to 12pm on Monday.

“A severe frost and further icy stretches will set in on Sunday night, accompanied by patches of freezing fog. Temperatures likely to fall below -5 degrees in many areas,” said a Met Éireann spokesperson.

Meanwhile a yellow warning for fog remains in place until 12pm on Sunday. Pockets of freezing fog are expected, causing potentially hazardous travel conditions.
