SEVEN Donegal tax defaulters agreed settlements of more than €700,000 with the Revenue Commissioners this week.
According to the latest list published in Tuesday’s edition of Iris Oifigiúil, companies and individuals here agreed total settlements of €711,626 for a range of infringements, including under-declaration of VAT, PAYE/PRSI, Corporation Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
In the three month period to March 31, 2015, 103 tax payers nationally made settlements of €21.3 million.
The largest local settlement, €201,317, was agreed by Isle Lane Ltd, property developers of Pearse Road, Letterkenny.
The company’s initial tax bill was for €129,175, however, interest of €33,390 and €38,752 in penalties were added.
Anthony John Conaghan, a car retailer from Kinletter, Ballybofey, settled for €144, 852. His initial tax bill was for €102,000, before, interest of €12,242 and penalties €30,602 were added.
Ann Sweeney, a publican from The Manse, Dunfanaghy, agreed €143,329. Her tax bill was €78,029, before interest of €6,778 and €58,522 in penalties were added.
Peter Byrne, retired company director, Liscooley, Killygordon, settled for €74,675. His initial tax bill was for €32,529, however, interest of €17,748 and €24, 397 in penalties were added.
Joseph Terence Ponsonby, a cafe proprietor of Glencar Shopping Centre, Letterkenny, settled for €72,541. His tax bill was €42,812, but interest of €16,885 and penalties of €12,843 were added.
La Fantasia Cafe Italia Ltd, a restaurant at 4 Justice Walsh Road, Letterkenny, settled for €39,912. Its initial tax bill was €27,688, before interest of €3,917 and €8,306 in penalties were added.
Finally, Pauric Magee, a car retailer from Dreenan, Ballybofey, settled for €35,000. His initial tax bill was €20,243, before interest of €6,660 and penalties of €8,097 were added.
The Revenue Commissioners also revealed that Ferry’s Refuse Collection Ltd, Rossbracken, Letterkenny, had €7,500 in fines and penalties imposed in court.
