Setanta create history as they win the Ulster IHC title

Setanta 1-16 Eire Óg Carrickmore 2-11

Setanta have made history to become the first Donegal side to win the Ulster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship as they disposed of Eire Óg Carrickmore in the final in Owenbeg.

The Cross/Killygordon men went into half-time five points up thanks to seven for the on form Gerard Gilmore, one from play, while Declan Coulter, Oisin Marley and Josh McGee Cronolly added to their tally.

The Tyrone champions hit back despite receiving a red card and got back to level terms at 0-11 to 1-8 and Coulter, Marley and another two Gilmore scores had Setanta two up before Seán Ward scored a vital goal.

Gimore converted another free but Carrickmore hit a second goal late on however, it was to be Setanta’s day as they make it back-to-back provincial championship wins.
