SERVICES at Letterkenny University Hospital are not currently affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the HSE has said.
Yesterday marked the fifth day of the US and Israel’s war with Iran.
The joint US-Israel attack on Iran has triggered retaliatory strikes across the Middle East, including on countries hosting US military bases. Strikes have hit urban centres, energy infrastructure, airports and hotels, shaking populations long used to relative security.
The Donegal News asked the HSE if the escalating conflict in the Middle East is affecting service level at LUH, with, for example, medics unable to return to the hospital from certain countries.
A spokesperson said: There is no indication at this time that services at Letterkenny University Hospital are directly affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East in terms of staff being unable to return to work from overseas or any disruption to care for patients.”
The spokesperson added that the hospital continues to operate and provide emergency and scheduled care services as normal.
