Senator Nikki Bradley has announced a significant funding boost of €750,000 to develop key sports and community facilities across Donegal.
This is part of a broader €11.4 million investment nationwide under the CLÁR Programme, aimed at supporting rural areas.
Bradley, who worked closely with Minister Heather Humphreys on this initiative, stated: “When I met Minister Humphreys recently, I made the case for Donegal to get a sizeable investment. Today, we are seeing that first hand.”
The funding will support various projects, including playgrounds, astro-turf pitches, walking tracks, and upgrades to community centres. There is also a focus on schools, with investments being made in play areas for children.
Minister Humphreys praised Bradley’s advocacy, noting:“Nikki is a strong and powerful advocate for communities the length and breadth of Donegal,” adding that the CLÁR Programme takes a “bottom-up approach” by supporting projects proposed directly by local communities.
Some of the Donegal projects benefiting from the funding include the development of sensory and play areas in Dhobhair, a walking track at Red Hughs GAA, and the upgrade of Gallowglass Community Centre.

Bradley highlighted the significance of these initiatives, adding: “These projects are about supporting communities on the ground – communities that I intend to represent as a TD if I am privileged enough to be elected.”
The announcement follows a recent allocation of €2.1 million in September, bringing the total investment to €13.5 million for over 310 projects under the CLÁR Programme this year.
Minister Humphreys concluded: “This announcement today under CLÁR has only been possible because of the work and efforts of our local groups and volunteers.”
