A Self-Care Wellness Fair is set to take place in The Silver Tassie Hotel on May 28, from 1pm to 4pm in a bid to showcase the services available in Donegal that promote mindfulness.
The fair was organised by Letterkenny woman, Claire Coughlan, to help guide people on their self-care and wellness journeys.
With an array of stalls including mindfulness practitioners for children and adults, therapists, yoga teachers, personal trainers, motivational speakers, life coaches and Reiki healers, it is guaranteed to be a lovely afternoon for families, couples and individuals.
This is a free event, however, donation buckets will be present on the day with all money being donated to Jigsaw Donegal.
Claire, who currently works in Penneys Letterkenny, began her own self-care journey during lockdown.
By meditating and practising gratitude, Claire learnt to quieten her mind.
Since lockdown, Claire has completed mindfulness, meditation and chakra healing courses and continues her research into the holistic world through reading and visiting local practitioners.
Claire, who previously worked in marketing, said she based her wellness event on the concept of a wedding fair.
“A wedding fair has every service in the one room to help you prepare for your special day, so why not have a room full of the local services that are offered in our own county to help people on their wellness journeys and with their own struggles, may it be anxiety, depression, disconnection, feeling lost and general mental health issues.
“I hope to help people that may be struggling by making them aware of the services available throughout Donegal,” she said.
Claire said with so much pressure and stress in the world we are living in today, it is important to quiet the mind and be grateful for the small wins in life.
“Gratitude and kindness are very important and if we work hard on ourselves by being gentle and listening to what our own bodies need, it will trickle down into other people’s lives.
“Stress is not good for us, for our mind or for our health. It is about bringing it back to basics and being grateful for what we have,” she said.
Hoping this event can continue on a yearly basis, Claire said she would also like to bring it to other parts of Donegal and possibly further, showcasing services that can be of benefit.
“Hopefully, I will also put a class together where like-minded people can come together to reset and re-charge.
“I want it to include gratitude, journaling, self-love and breath work, allowing us to be, to become present and reset our nervous system.
“Most of us are in fight or flight mode and we all need to take care of ourselves more,” she said.
If you are interested in getting involved in this event, there is still time to book a stall. Contact Claire via her Instagram page @Selfcare_withclaire.
