SHAUN McShane has a quicker-than-expected return to action on Saturday night when the Dungloe native takes on Marek Lackowski in the Lagoon Leisure Centre, Paisley.

The 33-year old only made his pro debut in February, the light welterweight making a winning start as he out-pounted Ryan Love in Glasgow.

McShane hadn’t been preparing for a contest this soon, but when the chance to take on Lackowski presented itself last weekend the Dungloe man couldn’t refuse.

“I’m better off just taking fights when they come up,” McShane, who is ultimately aiming to fight for a Scottish title, said.

“I don’t have a lot done for this because I didn’t think that I’d be on until the end of April, but I’ll give it a rattle.”

He is now based in Glasgow and signed up with the Prospect Boxing stable in Lanarkshire. He trains under Jimmy Reilly at the Kelvin Amateur club and is managed by Paul Graham of Prospect.

Saturday’s show is being run by Saltire Boxing Promotions and matches McShane up with Lackowski, an Aberdeen-based Polish fighter who has five fights to his name and who boxes out of Tommy Gilmour’s stable in Glasgow.
